“The queen’s role is to lay eggs. A drone mates with the queen once. The worker bees, as the name suggests, do all the work in the hive. Worker bees collect nectar and feed the queen and the larvae.”
What Are Bumble Bees?
A bumble bee is a bee species similar in appearance to the common honey bee. All bees behavior is the same irrespective of the species. This means that bumble bees like the honey bees live in organized colonies.
The colonies consist of the queen, the drones, and the worker bees. The queen’s role is to lay eggs. A drone mates with the queen once. The worker bees, as the name suggests, do all the work in the hive. Worker bees collect nectar and feed the queen and the larvae. These insects live in a colony known as a bumble bee hive.
The bees build their hives mostly on hollow objects such as trees, stumps, and gaps in roofs. When a bumble bee colony becomes too large, some of the bees migrate to form a colony at a different place. This migration is called swarming. During swarming a bee colony may perch on a roof. Such bees can be dangerous when provoked.
Bumble Bees Sting
These bees contain a painful sting just like the honey bees. A bumble bee can sting more than one time. This makes them more dangerous than the honey bees that sting only once and die.
The queen and the worker bees contain a sting. The bumble bee insect has a strongly attached sting. The honeybee, on the other hand, removes the sting and its abdominal contents when it stings. The sting sac is left on the body of the stung human.

The male bumble bee does not have a sting. Instead, it has a genital capsule that it uses for mating. The sting of worker bees and the queen is usually hidden inside the abdomen. It is removed only during stinging. These bees are more docile than honeybees. They rarely sting humans unless when they are provoked.
However, there exist a bumble bee species in North America that is more aggressive than the common bees. These bee species have a venomous sting that is allergic. Therefore, it is good to avoid contact with these bees especially if you are allergic to bee stings. When a sting breaks, it cannot regrow.
How to Get Rid of Bumblebee
Although these insects are docile, they can be dangerous when they feel threatened. These insects can perch on the house roof and other objects in the homestead yard. The pests should be removed as quickly as possible to prevent a human attack.
